Travel: Valley of Fire, Red Rock Canyon
Outside of Las Vegas, there are two desert areas that offer spectacular colour images. The Valley of Fire is a State park, renowned for its 40,000 acres of bright red Aztec sandstone outcrops nestled in gray and tan limestone. The hiking trails are less developed and more challenging and rugged. Red Rock Canyon is a National Conservation Area that showcases a set of large red rock formations, sandstone peaks and walls. It has better developed trails for hiking.
